VARIAN SPECTRAA-400P DOUBLE-BEAM ATOMIC ABSORPTION SPECTROMETER WITH EMISSION CAPABILITY.

Comprises spectrometer module and IBM PS/2 Model 30.

Optics: All reflective for constant focus, hard dielectric coated for high reflectivity and increased resistance to corrosion, sealed against dust and vapor.

Monochromator: Czerny-Turner monochromator with 330mn focal length. Holographic diffraction grating of 1800 lines/mm, blazed at 240 nm.

Wavelength range 180-900 nm, automatic drive under computer control, automatic peaking.

Full height slits with 0.1, 0.2, 0.5 and 1.0 nm spectral bandwidth, reduced height slits with 0.2, 0.5 and 1.0 nm spectral bandwidth, autmatic slit selection. Selected photomultiplier covering fult wavelength range.

Eight-lamp turret: Computer-controlled turret mounts 8 hollow cathode lamps. Provides automatic recognition and selection of coded SpectrAA lamps. In a multi-element sequence, the next lamp in the sequence is warmed up at its operating current.

Programmable flame control. Uses data station for entry, display and storage of flame type and gas flows. Push-button flame ignition and extinction.

Interlocks monitor: oxidant pressure, reservoir pressure, mains voltage, gas flows, burner type, flame condition, spray-chamber bungs, flame shield and liquid trap level.

Flame atomizer: Hi-vac nebulizer with plantinum-iridium capillary and tantalum venturi, interlocked nebulizer bung with externally adjustable glass impact bead.

Inert polypropylene spraychamber with interlocked pressure relief bung at rear, integrat polypropylene liquid trap with liquid level interlock. Titanium burner head. Burner, spraychamber and liquid trap may be removed for maintenance by releasing two screws.

Sensitivity greater than 0.5 absorbance for 5 ug/ml copper using air-acetylene burner.

Background correction: Pre-aligned deuterium lamp for background correction between 190 nm and approx. 425 nm. Correction to 2 absorbance. High-Speed electronic modulation for correction of transient signals.

PSC-56 PROGRAMMABLE SAMPLE CHANGER

Automatically present samples to SpectrAA series flame atomic absorption spectrometers or VGA-76 vapor generation accessory. Carrousel holds 5 standards and 67 samples in test tubes plus rinse, blank and restope beakers. The SpectrAA keyboard, video display unit and disk drive are used for entry, display and storage of PSC-56 parameters. Programmable parameters are numbers of standards, first and last sample, rinse rate, rinse time, delay time, dip time (for micro sampling), number of replicates, recalibration rate and reslope rate.

DISPLAY

Tables for temperature and sample dispenser programming, and graphical display of temperature/time profile, background absorbance and background corrected absorbance are provided.

TEMPERATURE RANGE

40 to 3000 degrees C, up to 20 temperature steps, programmable heating rate to 2000 C/sec.

GASES

Inert gas (usually ergon or nitrogen) and alternate gas. Flow setectable.

HEATED INJECTION

Programmable in the range of 40°C to 150°C.-Programnable injection rate.

PROGRAMMABLE SAMPLE DISPENSER

Dispenses blank, standard (5) and samples (45) together with chemical modifier solution if required. Modifier may be injected and dried prior to sample injection. Automatically prepares calibration standards or standard addition on samples using stock solution.

MULTIPLE INJECTION

Up to 99 injections may be made, drying (and ashing if re­quired) between each injection, before atomizing the sample.

CALIBRATION

Normal or standard addition or bracketing standards. Programmable reslope and recalibration rates. Up to five standards can be used.

MODEL VGA-76 VAPOR GENERATION ACCESSORY

Supplied complete with quartz absorption cell with holder, gas liquid separator, reagent containers, all tubings, hoses and connectors, spare kit of tubing and connectors.
