OUTLINE

The liquid-borne particle counter KL-20K is designed to measure the concentration of particles in pure water, using the light-scattering method. Particle count is displayed in five size ranges. Using peripheral equipment and the standard built-in RS-232-C or other optional interfaces, auto­matic recording of measurement results and transfer of data to other equipment is possible.

• Measurement can be performed either off-line with a sampler.

• Particle count for five particle sizes (0.2, 0.22,0.25,0.3,0.5 µm and above) in a single measurement.

• Battery backup retains measurement settings also during power-off.

• Alarm function can give audible warning when number of particles exceeds a certain level (selectable in 4 steps). A relay for control of external devices is also provided.

This section shows a few representative connection examples.

For samples with low viscosity or high boiling point, suction type equipment (such as the syringe sampler KZ-30S) is suitable. For low-quantities of sample liquid and high-precision measurements, a syringe sampler should be used.

The RS-232-C interface KZ-20S is supplied as standard equipment with the KL-20K. Two other Interfaces are available as options. Either of these can be installed internally in place of the KZ­20S.

Sizing of particles is based on the amount of light scattered by the particles. The threshold for particle size discrimination is calibrated at the factory, using particles of known diameter and refractive index (polystyrene latex spheres). Therefore, measured size is optically equivalent to the size of polystyrene latex particles.
