Raw material identification and qualification
Final product assay
System Description
The Direct Contact Analyzer offers rapid chemical analysis and physical parameter testing without opening the sample container. The analyzer accepts unopened containers such as plastic bags, beakers, vials, and bottles.
Operation is based an NIR (near-infrared) technology which is completely non-destructive. The Direct Contact Analyzer returns each sample unharmed for further testing, if wanted. The Direct Contact Analyzer is a nonfiber-based system which allows for use of the entire
wavelength region to 2500 nm. And, the NIR measurement process is completed in about 45 seconds. Imagine the time savings and manufacturing efficiency when comparing NIR with HPLC, FTIR, and Karl Fischer methods.
The Direct Contact Analyzer is a true multipurpose analyzer and can be used to analyze powders, liquids, or finished dosage forms without changing the instrument. Scanning from 400nm to 2500nm permits measurement of product color variance in every test, without extending the analysis time.
Measure incoming raw materials for identification and qualification in seconds. The NIR method will eliminate the need for most other tests, and reduce the time in quarantine from days to minutes. And because NIR is a "green" technology there aren't any solvents or disposal Problems. Nothing is consumed, the sample remains completely uncontaminated, and there is nothing to dispose of after the test.

SmartProbe Analyzer
This system can analyze powders and liquids directly in less than one minute. It can perform quantitative analysis, identification, and qualification of materials easily, quickly, and accurately.
The SmartProbe uses near-infrared . (NIR) spectral energy to illuminate the sample. By measuring the energy reflected off the sample, chemical Information and composition can be assayed.
NIR measurement is inherently non-destructive, so the sample is available for later use, re-analysis, or verification. Sample preparation is not required, which saves time, enhances accuracy and precision, and uses no chemicals.
The SmartProbe, used in conjunction with fiber optic technology, provides a simple and convenient method for direct analysis of many materials. The SmartProbe Analyzer is available with standard fiber lengths of 2 meters and 3 meters.
Menu-driven, validated Vision® Spectral Analysis Software permits use of the SmartProbe for identification, qualification, and quantitative measurement. Features such as password security, automatic data logging, and a full audit trail meet the rigorous requirements of regulated industries.
The SmartProbe handle contains an easy-to-read LED panel to guide the Operator through use of the system for sampling. Because the Computer may be two to three meters away from the material being sampled, this panel indicates when the system is ready (or is performing) the sampling functions. Use is explained in section 5.0.
This SmartProbe manual is designed to guide the user through instrument assembly and set-up, and to successful communication with the host PC. Full instructions for use of Vision are found in the manual accompanying the software, and in help screens.
1.0 Introduction
Thank you for purchasing the
SmartProbe manufactured by FOSS. This system can analyze powders and liquids directly in less than one minute. It can perform quantitative analysis, identification, and qualification of materials easily, quickly, and accurately.
The SmartProbe uses near-infrared (NIR) spectral energy to illuminate the sample. By measuring the energy
reflected off the sample, chemical Information and composition can be assayed.
NIR measurement is inherently nondestructive, so the sample is available for later use, re-analysis, or verification. Sample preparation is not required, which saves time, enhances accuracy and precision, and uses no chemicals.

LED indicators on the SmartProbe handle provide operator
Information about the analyzer and sample results.
