8200 CX AutoSampler Basic Assembly
The 8200 CX AutoSampler is a low-loss low-volume autosampler that mounts an all Varian 3000 Series Gas Chromatographs equipped with the In-Board Data Handling (IBDH TM ) option.
The 8200 CX AutoSampler can be installed by you. Once you install the 8200 CX mounting plates over the GC injector nuts (either front or back mounting), and align the syringe, you can remove and remount the 8200 CX AutoSampler without the need to realign the syringe again.
The left-hand mount (storage module swings to the left) of the injector is standard for the Star 3400 CX, 3410, 3500, and the left injectors of the Star 3600 CX GC. An optional right-hand mount (storage module swings to the right) is available for right-hand injectors of the Star 3600 CX GC.
The 8200 CX AutoSampler assembly includes: Storage Module, Pneumatics Module, and

Environmental
For Optimum performance of the 8200 CXAutoSampler, check that the operating environment meets the following specifications:
Temperature: Operating: 10°C to 40°C
Storage: -20°C to 65°C
Humidity: Operating: To 80% non-condensing
Power: 90 Vac to 264 Vac operating range with four selectable voltages:
100, 120, 220, 240 Vac (±10%) Frequency: 50/60 Hz
Power Consumption (Maximum): 55 VA
The 8200 CX AutoSampler mounts over the injectors on the top cover of the Varian Series 3000 Gas Chromatographs (with the exception of the 3300). The 8200 CX AutoSampler is operated through the keypad on the front panel of the GC.
The AutoSampler is not powered through the GC but through a "power entry module" located on the rear panel of the Pneumatics Module. The main power switch, fuse(s) and voltage selection components are also located on this rear panel. The AutoSampler can be operated at 100, 120, 220, and 240 Volts, 50/60 Hz, single phase, or split phase (phase/phase) power. For the procedure to select the appropriate voltage for the 8200 CX AutoSampler.
In order for the 8200 CX AutoSampler to operate with the 3000 Series GC, the GC must be equipped with the most recent version of the 8200 CX IBDH/CPU PC Board
The 8200 CX AutoSampler is constructed of three modules: Storage Module,
Storage Module
The Storage Module consists of: 48-vial carrousel, turntable, Position Sensor Board, vial sensors, and two synchronous motors that rotate the turntable and move it in and out of the sampling position. The Storage Module is hinged to the
A power ON indicator (LED) is located an the front right side of the Storage Module. This LED lights when the power cord is properly connected and the power switch of the AutoSampler is turned ON.
Pneumatics Module
The Pneumatics Module houses: the solvent and air solenoid valves that control solvent and air to the solvent reservoirs and regulator; power transformer; main power switch, fuses, voltage selection module; and, the Controller PC Board. Gas (at 40-60 psig) enters the pressure regulator preset to 20 psi (outlet) at the factory. You should not need to further adjust the gas pressure. Gas is distributed to Tour valves (L1, L2, L3, L5) that control pressure and solvent flow from Reservoirs A and B. Solenoid valves in the pneumatics module are connected to J8 an the 8200 CX Controller PC Board.
The Injection Tower Module houses the syringe carriage and syringe mounting hardware, syringe carriage drive stepper motor, waste cup, and syringe plunger stepping motor drive assembly. The Injection Module, complete with the hinged Storage Module, bolts to the Pneumatics Module.
