2152 HPLC Controller is a state-of-the-art central processing unit designed for precise and accurate gradient elution and complete HPLC system control. This Compact and modular unit portions solvents from two LKB 2150 HPLC Pumps to produce accurate and reproducible gradients over an extended range of solvent composition. Alternatively, it can be used to control a switching valve for low pressure gradient mixing with a single 2150 HPLC pump.
The microprocessor-based 2150 Controller enables precise volume fraction collection as well as volumetric calibration of the recorder chart speed (when used with an LKB fraction collector and recorder) an invaluable feature for flow programming. It is also the only Controller which offers exact synchronization of your gradient profile and chromatogram by compensating for the lag in system response.
For accurate and efficient methods development, the 2152 incorporates a variety of sophisticated features such as editing, File storage, scaling functions, flow programming and link-file capabilities. For complete HPLC system control, it can also be used to control a wide variety of auxiliary instrumentation, eg. autosampler, fraction collector, column ovens or valves.
Accurate and reproducible gradients
The 2152 HPLC Controller operates together with the 2150 HPLC Pump to provide smooth, accurate and reproducible gradient elution. Even at the extremes of gradient composition, where very low flow rates are required, the 2150 pump (minimum flow: 10 µl/min) ensures precision. This feature makes an LKB HPLC System ideal for running gradients an microbore columns.
The small displacement volume of the 2150 pump-head together with a low internal volume ensures that solvent changeover is both smooth and rapid.
Precision even at extremes of gradient composition.
Gradient profiles are generated by a simple "corner point" system. Each "corner point" defines the time, flow and composition (%B) of the gradient. Up to 200 points can be defined allowing virtually any shape of gradient to be formed from simple "two point" linear gradients to curved and complex gradients.
Ideal for methods development
For efficient modification of a previously programmed gradient profile, the 2152 Controller is equipped with dual scaling functions. These functions offer simple and rapid modification of an existing program by changing the scale of time and/or solvent composition. An edit facility permits modification of all gradient parameters even during a run.
Up to 10 different programs can be stored in the memory and a link-file function permits automatic repetition of a particular gradient or successive recall of different gradients in a specified order. Combined with an autoloader, this feature enables fully automated methods development.
Any gradient can be reviewed on the recorder by simply pressing the LIST button. During a run, gradient profiles are automatically superimposed on the chromatogram with exact synchronization of solvent composition and peak retention volumes.
Easy to program
Programming the 2152 Controller is simplified by a user-friendly question and answer routine. You can choose between a BASIC MODE of operation requiring a minimum of programming or an ADVANCED MODE with full control over all operational parameters. In the BASIC MODE, key parameters such as pressure limits are preprogrammed to reduce programming steps. In both modes, programming errors are indicated by messages on the alphanumeric display.
A comprehensive 3-level display simplifies operation by continually displaying the elapsed time, flow rate, solvent composition, pump and program status, and the activation of auxiliary functions. Pressure limits, initial and final gradient composition, gradient parameters and storage file status are displayed on user command.
Complete HPLC system control
The 2152 HPLC Controller can be used to activate, at preprogrammed times, up to five pieces of auxiliary HPLC equipment. For fully automated chromatography, the 2152 Controller can be interfaced with an autosampler. Control of external valves can be used, for example, to automatically regenerate your column.
Event marking can be used to record programmed changes in flow and the activation of auxiliary functions. Commands to the LKB 2211 SuperRac fraction collector give complete automation of preparative chromatography.
