Detector ED 40

The versatile Dionex ED40 Electrochemical Detector provides the three major forms of electrochemical detection: Conductivity, and DC and integrated amperometry. An additional mode is voltammetry, which can be used to determine the potentials used for amperometry operation. The ED40 can also be used to monitor pH during amperometric operation; and temperature during conductivity operation.

Features

The ED40 includes all of the features of the CD20 conductivity detector, plus:

•    An advanced electrochemical cell design that incorporates a 1-mm diameter working electrode for a high signal-tonoise ratio.

•    Four working electrode options: gold, platinum, silver, and glassy carbon.

•    Low volume cell for low dispersion.

•    Corrosion resistant titanium flow path and counter electrode.

•    Combination pH-Ag/AgC1 reference electrode that minimizes baseline shift with pH gradients.

•    Easy remote mounting of amperometry cell.

Conductivity Electronics & Flow Cell

Same as CD20 Conductivity Detector.

Amperometry Electronics

Noise: 1 pA (DC amperometry); 20 pC (integrated amperometry)

Potential Ranges: ±2.00 V in 0.01-V increments.

Control Modes: Local or remote via relay closures, TTL, or by PeakNet Software via DX LAN.

Amperometry Flow Cell

Gradient Pump GP 40

The Dionex GP40 Gradient Pump is a dual processor-controlled gradient solvent delivery system designed to blend and pump mixtures of up to four mobile phase components at precisely controlled flow rates. The selected mobile phase composition may be delivered either isocratically or as a linear or exponential gradient.

The GP40 is configured as either a standard bore or a microbore pump.

Features

  • Dual processors (a microprocessor for module common functions and a Digital Signal Processor (DSP) dedicated to fulltime pump control) provide superior flow control, stability, and accuracy for low noise.
  • Computer-aided design of flow path provides extremely small void volumes for accurate, sharp gradients with minimal delays.
  • DSP firmware provides compressability compensation for accurate flow rates and eluent proportioning regardless of pressure level and viscosity.
  • Dual pump heads reduce pulsation, allowing high sensitivity detection with pulse sensitive detectors.
  • Built-in vacuum degas Option provides sealed pressurized in-line degassing for best reproducibility, lowest backgrounds, and protection of delicate solvents from contamination and breakdown.
  • Isocratic proportioning or binary, ternary, or quaternary gradients can be programmed. In addition to a linear gradient, four concave and four convex gradients can be chosen.
  • User-selectable pressure mode or flow mode (no pressure feedback).
  • User-selectable high and low pressure limits automatically stop the pump in the event of leaks, flow restrictions, flow blockages, or an empty eluent reservoir.
  • Integral piston rinsing prolongs seal lifetime by preventing salt crystallization on the piston.

GP40 Pump Hydraulics

Construction: Chemically inert, metal-free PEEK flowpaths are compatible with all aqueous eluents of pH 0–14 and reversed phase solvents.

Type: Dual reciprocating pistons, microprocessor-controlled constant stroke, variable speed.

Control Modes: Local or remote via relay closures, TTL, or by PeakNet Software via DX LAN.

Flow Rate Setting Resolution: 10 µL/min

Maximum Pressure: 35 MPa (5000 psi) for both microbore and standard pump heads.

Pressure Alarm Limits: Upper limit 0–35 MPa or 0–5000 psi in 1 unit (MPa or psi) increments; lower limit settable to up to one unit lower than high limit setting.

Flow Accuracy: ±0.5% of setting.

Flow Precision: Better than 0.2% for microbore pump; better than 0.1% for standard pump.

Eluent Selection: Four different mobile phase components; each can be proportioned from 0 to 100%.

Proportioning Accuracy: ±1% for standard pump; ±2% for microbore pump.

Pressure Pulsation: 0.2% of system pressure (in pressure mode).

Physical Specifications

Power Requirements: 90 - 265 V ac, 47 - 63 Hz (power supply is auto-sensing no voltage adjustment required).
