Compact outside

With just 0.18 square meters foot print, FOCUS GC occupies less than half the bench space of a dual channel standard GC! Smaller only on the outside, permits to have two GCs in place of a single conventional oven, with unmatched benefits for your productivity.

Large inside

A wide and spacious column oven with front door access for swift column installation. No requirement for special holders or brackets allows fast and easy installation of any commercially available capillary or wide-bore column, helping your lab to keep costs down and productivity up!

Mini keypad

Reliability and Performance

Superior split/ splitless injector

Optimised for both split and splitless injection modes, the FOCUS GC inlet enables the introduction of relatively large injection volumes (five microlitres or more), thanks to its carefully designed geometry. Furthermore, fully inert vaporization chamber grants perfect sample vaporization with virtual no discrimination for heavy compounds. The injector can also be easily converted to accept packed columns.

Supreme repeatability

Unprecedented "column-to-column" and "instrument-to-instrument" retention time repeatability is promptly delivered, by effect of the proprietary automated column characterisatiori . This unique feature permits to automatically measure and store the real column parameters, making retention time repeatability independent of column sizes.

GC method transfer simplification, method standardization through different Instruments, and automatic leak check are the additional benefits. All delivered free!

Unparalleled sensitivity

Simple Headspace Analysis

Static headspace unattended analyses can be promptly and successfully carried out by the HS 2000 autosampler . Its heated syringe approach, eliminating any transfer line related problem, grants superior results, still leaving free access to the inlet. Quick injector maintenance or manual injections for routine calibrations are thus preserved. Even environmental or pharmaceutical analyses are perfectly performed in compliance with the most stringent regulated protocols.

Merlin Microseal ^TM

Al 3000 Autoinjector

The Al 3000 Autoinjector is the ideal solution for laboratories requiring a small degree of automation or improvement in injection precision not attainable by the human hand: up to 8 sample vials can be loaded on a removable sample holder with 4 different solvents ensuring thorough syringe rinsing. Even the most tenacious compounds are handled with ease on Al 3000.

AS 3000 Autosampler

The AS 3000 Autosampler is the high throughput answer for demanding, productive environments. 105 sample vials loaded on a removable sample tray and the system's incredible ease-of-use are the key benefits for high capacity, routine analyses. Online control

FOCUS GC remote control and acquisition can be performed through any GC data system of the Thermo family. Dedicated, comprehensive set-up screens appear when selecting FOCUS GC, Al 3000 or AS 3000 from the Instrument configuration window.

A complete range of data handling facilities and intuitive instrument-related menus permit simple and immediate Operation of the system.

Remote control and diagnosis is allowed through the virtual keypad and the capabilities of the Ethernet adapter.

Acquisition is performed either through the digital RS232 connection port or the analogue output via a USB-connected A/D conversion module. LAN interfacing flexibility is a powerful additional benefit.

3000 SERIES

Introducing the P/S=1 concept (Performance/Simplicity)

The 3000 series establishes the new P/S =1 paradigm: the case in which simplicity does not have performance and productivity as a trade off!!

The AI/AS 3000 automatic sampling systems do not require any specific expertise from the chemist, leaving him more time for business. Simplicity is now directly proportional to top performance, making the 3000 series a masterpiece in usability.

Optimised parameter set-up

"Hot Empty Needle" or "Cold Needle" injection techniques can be programmed just by choosing the proper option in the set-up menu. Each selection incorporates optimised values for the critical parameters enabling a correct execution of the analysis: needle penetration, dwell time, and injection speed are pre-set for unprecedented repeatability results and ultimate simplicity.

Full range, high precision volume selection

The injection volume is selectable in steps of 0.1 µl over the total syringe's capacity, allowing fall control and great flexibility. Accepting 10 or 5 µl syringes, the AI/AS 3000 sampling systems are able to operate also in the microvolume range. Utmost precision is standard even when performing Fast GC.

Combined solvent rinsing

A series of 4 different solvent bottles can be used for appropriate syringe flushing.

Single or combined solvent selection for Pre and Post cleaning allow thorough rinsing even of the most tenacious compounds, thus ensuring zero cross-contamination.

In addition a 40 ml waste bottle ensures long unattended operations.

Fast and easy syringe replacement

The two types of syringes can be installed in the turret with no additional calibration.

Syringe replacement is performed as simply as removing the old and snapping in the new one. An auto centering of the turret over the sample vial, the solvent bottle and the injector is then automatically performed, without any need for any manual intervention. Just load your samples and run the analysis with no extra down time.

Rennovable trays

Both trays (8 and 105 position) can be removed for sample loading or preparation, or to be stored elsewhere, if required. In addition, multiple 8 position trays can be used as sample

holders marked accordingly to uniquely identify different batches of samples: just another useful feature for productive labs.

Safe accessibility

In compliance with all safety standards a series of switches allow the systems to be turned off automatically each time the turret is removed from the GC's mounting bracket.

Turret maneuvring is therefore freely accessible at no risk.

" Split - second" Installation

The new 3000 series is conceived and engineered for an "out-of-the-box" type installation. Fixed mechanical guides enable unequivocal slide-in installation ensuring an extremely precise alignment with the injector and making system set-up as easy as ever; just a fraction of a second to be running.

Choose your investment and make the best out of it. Following the growing business of your lab, the AI 3000 Autoinjector can easily be turned into the AS 3000 Autosampler with no tool required. Expansion from the 8 Position sample tray to a 105 sample capacity system is accomplished in a jiffy adding the rotating carousel with integrated electronics.

Both AI/AS 3000 can be installed either on the right or on the left hand side of the Trace GC just by swapping the sample container or sample tray's side; the automatic recognition of the position will do the rest.

Rugged in design

The revolving turret allows the syringe to swing from the sample tray to the injection port. Besides avoiding any complicated sample vial transfer procedure, this approach maintains the whole system far away from any heated source. This prevents the syringe from being adversely affected by the injector's temperature and leaves the inlet unobstructed, available for manual priority sampling or maintenance.

Self control

State of the art, miniaturised electronics yields full integration of all parts required for control, with no need for external or GC on-board control module. This completely independent, compact sampling system can be placed on any Thermo Finnigan GC or GC/MS in the lab, even for rush, last minute analyses.
