Waters 2487 detector is the most sensitive and versatile absorbance detector available for HPLC. With easy programming from the front panel keypad, timesaving qualification derived from the built-in cuvette capability, and dual wavelength operation, the 2487 detector will enhance the productivity of any chromatography laboratory. The 2487 detector can operate either as a stand-alone, modular UV/Vis absorbance detector or an integral component of several Waters HPLC Systems. All performance specifications are for the 2487 detector following a warm-up period of one hour.
Innovative capabilities
· The patented* TaperSlit- flow cell maximizes energy throughput, eliminates refractive index effects, and provides consistent resolution over the entire wavelength range, ensuring the highest sensitivity while maintaining optimal spectral performance.
Lamp Optimization Software in the 2487 detector automatically maximizes signal-to-noise ratio in visible and UV wavelength ranges using a single lamp. This feature extends the lifetime of the lamp for consistent results over time. Because only one lamp needs to be maintained, the 2487 detector requires less maintenance and is more cost effective. Optimization is performed automatically on power up or with push-button re-calibration and requires no manual adjustments to the detector.
Dual wavelength mode simultaneously monitors absorbance at two user-selectable wavelengths, giving you additional analyte information and increasing your productivity.
System operation or stand-alone
Two pairs of analog outputs can be independently programmed (e.g. one for absorbance and one to monitor sample energy or your chromatogram at a different sensitivity or filter setting). The 2487 detector can be controlled by Waters data products when included in Waters HPLC Systems.
As a stand-alone module, the 2487 detector lets you construct time-based programs with full control of major parameters. You can program and store up to ten methods (16 steps each) and five spectra. It also has the capability to operate in dual wavelength mode.
Simple performance maintenance
With the 2487 detector, you can count on maximum performance with minimum maintenance.
All mirrors are accessible by using a screwdriver so theres no need to open the optics bench
The flow cells are interchangeable using only three screws
The lamp is pre-aligned and requires the use of only two screws
Lamp serial numbers and number of ignitions are automatically tracked
On-board signal-to-noise tester
Exceptional versatility for HPLC applications
The 2487 detector provides optimal performance for analytical, preparative, and microbore applications, whether you work in R&D, Analytical Development, or QA/QC.
Analytical
Wavelength verification and calibration via an internal erbium filter (patent pending for the use of an erbium filter in wavelength calibration of HPLC detectors) enables calibration to within ±1 nm utilizing four wavelength maxima, which covers the UV as well as visible wavelength range.
MaxPlot speeds method development by maximizing response from two wavelengths and integrating these wavelengths into one chromatogram, even when retention times are unknown and spectra are dissimilar.
An integrated cuvette holder, coupled with Waters qualification workbooks and optional cuvette kits for accuracy and linearity, make qualification easier and faster. Ideal for methods development, the cuvette capability helps you quickly obtain your analyte absorbance spectrum.
Preparative
Advanced fraction collection can be activated automatically, based upon time or absorbance
thresholds, and is made easier with real-time views of chromatograms and spectral scans.
RatioPlot divides absorbances at two selected wavelengths and plots the resulting ratiogram to help detect hidden components that may be present under individual peaks. It can also trigger threshold events.
Log absorbance and difference can be plotted enabling both small and large peaks to be viewed on a single chromatographic output.
Microbore
No volume-adding bulkhead fittings mean minimized band broadening, which maintains excellent peak resolution. This convenience, combined with the low cell volume of our optional, microbore TaperSlit flow cell means optimal analyses for narrowbore and microbore applications.
New optical design increases light throughput, resulting in an overall decrease in baseline noise for better sensitivity in microbore applications. In addition, the single wavelength mode is optimized for high sensitivity and offers absorbance measurements with the highest level of performance and ease of use available today.
