WHY CHOOSE DARAS

As researchers move progressively towards unravelling the genetic code, our ability to understand and manipulate DNA continues to advance at a rapid rate. To date, traditional methods of DNA and RNA analysis have failed to keep pace with the demands for automation and high throughput analysis. Furthermore, many laboratory techniques are still labour intensive, requiring high levels of technical involvement, with the results being open to subjective interpretation. The automation of complex molecular biology analyses will reduce technician involvement in routine procedures whilst producing consistent results within today's busy laboratory environment. To address these issues, DARAS has been specifically developed as a fully automated system designed to carry out all the experimental steps associated with complex molecular biology analyses.

The DARAS automated system combines the amplification potential of the polymerase chain reaction (PCR), with patented sequence-specific capture and detection of nucleic acids. Manipulation and detection of PCR products using the automated technology, provides accurate detection at low DNA input levels whilst eliminating the inherent technical problems associated with the interpretation of conventional gel-based separation and analysis methods. All critical reactions are under precise temperature control and are performed in disposable Reaction Columns carrying target-specific micro-beads.

The modular instrument system is fully automated under the control of a multi-tasking surveillance computer, allowing data collection and full sample analysis and traceability. The DARAS system gives users the opportunity to automate and simplify the detection of DNA products, allowing rapid, reliable analysis of multiple samples. DARAS is capable of analysing up to 100 DNA samples per day, using pre-programmed protocols, each taking approximately 30 minutes, giving users the assurance of increased sensitivity and high specificity.
