Data traceability

The control panel barcode reader and keyboard enable tracking of sample and consumable data. System and run data are saved in a report file that can be printed directly or transferred to a PC. Report files can be processed with a LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) or other programs.

pipetting head

Includes 14 precision syringe pumps, each with a tip adapter that automatically attaches filter pipette tips. 50–1000 µl of liquid can be aspirated and dispensed into each pipette tip. The pipetting accuracy is: 50-100 μl: ± 5% 100-1000 μl: ± 2% The syringe pumps are air-filled. Saline liquids, alcohol, solvents and/or magnetic particle suspensions can be aspirated and dispensed. Air bubbles (air gaps) can be sucked in to prevent sucked liquid from dripping out. The pipetting head contains a magnet that enables the magnetic particles to be separated from a suctioned liquid. The filter pipette tips are picked up from the tip rack and placed back there after use. The pipetting head moves in the Z direction above the work platform.

Heating system

Accommodates the temperature-controlled positions of the reagent cartridges and has a working temperature range from ambient temperature to max. 95 ºC. The temperature accuracy of the heating block at 60°C is: ± 2°C.

Filter pipette tips

Are automatically attached to the tip adapters of the pipetting head during a protocol run to enable aspiration and dispensing of liquids. Pipetting volume 50–1000 μl per tip. Up to 28 pipette tip holders (each with one pipette tip) can be placed in the tip rack on the work platform of the EZ1 Advanced XL per run.

Consumables

The reagents are loaded onto the work platform in the form of reagent cartridges. These cartridges are supplied by QIAGEN pre-filled with the reagents. Up to 14 reagent cartridges are placed in a cartridge holder on the work platform per protocol run. Samples are placed in 2 mL sample vials on the work platform. Work steps that involve heating take place in the heating system, in which the temperature-controlled positions of the reagent cartridges are located during a protocol run. The purified nucleic acids are collected in 1.5 ml elution tubes.

Produce ultraviolet light with a wavelength of 253.7 nm (equivalent to Type C UV light).
