The GeneAmp® PCR System 9600 is an automated instrument, specifically designed for controlling the times and temperatures required by the GeneAmp Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) process for nucleic acid amplification. The GeneAmp PCR System 9600 consists of a 96-well position aluminum sample block, which is heated by a film heater and cooled by an internal refrigeration unit. User interface is through a full numeric keypad with heating and cooling indicator lights and information viewed an a 2x20 character fluorescent display. An optional printer can be attached through the RS232C interface and hard copy of the programmed protocols and achieved times/temperatures can be obtained.

Internal Memory. 150 user files
Modifiable Programs . Modifiable HOLD program for maintaining a specific temperature for either an indefinite or fixed time period. Modifiable CYCL program contains the pattern of thermal ramp and hold segments for PCR cycling. Contains up to nine setpoints, each of which com-prises a ramp segment and a hold segment for the specific target temperature. The pattern can be repeated up to 99 times.
AUTO program allows the user to automatically increment or decrement the setpoint times and temperatures by a fixed amount every cycle.
User Diagnostics . Ability to run a number of diagnostic routines to verify heating and cooling rates, overshoot and undershoot temperatures, and check display functions.
PCR Performance Guarantee
Using the GeneAmp PCR System 9600 and the GeneAmp® PCR Reagent Kit, an amplification yield of at least 100,000 fold of the Lambda Control DNA target can be achieved with:
Ø 0.2 µM each of the Lambda Control Primers
o 0.1 ng of Lambda Control DNA target
Ø 50-µL reaction volume without a mineral oil overlay in a 0.2-mL MicroAmp® Reaction Tube
Ø 25 thermal cycles: 94°C for 15 seconds, 68°C for 60 seconds.
