The Model L-6200 is an intelligent pump which plays a major role in the Hitachi high speed liquid chromatography system. Its functions are detailed below.

Manual Pump System
The Model L-6200 is used as a single function pump like the Model L-6000.
Low Pressure Gradient System
The eluents are mixed before being pressurized by the pump. Accordingly this mixing method is called a "low pressure gradient elution". , It employs a proportioning valve for changing over the three eluent flow paths.
High Pressure Gradient System
The eluents are mixed after being pressurized by the pump. Accordingly this mixing method is called a "high pressure gradient elution". It uses two or three pumps for pressurizing each eluent independently.
