The light beam emitted from the light source (D2 or W lamp) reflects on the condens-ing mirror Ml, passes through slit S1 and is dispersed by the stigmatic concave grat-ing Gl.

It is split into two beams by the half mirror HM1.

One beam passes through slit S2 and flow cell to reach detector S.

The other beam passes through slit S3 and reaches detector R.

The latter optical signal serves as a reference signal for correcting fluctuations of the light source. Electric signals provided from detectors S and R are converted into absorbance-linear signals by a log amplifier, and output to a recorder and data processor.
