L-7100 HPLC-Pump

Precision and Reliability

The L-7100 has been designed along the lines of the proven serial dualpiston principle, characterised by an extremely constant flow rate, low pulsation and reliable delivery of all commonly used solvents. Moreover, the L-7100 is able to form solvent gradients with high precision and accuracy. Each individual component and the finished instrument are subject to stringent quality control measures. A validation certificate and the manufacturer's test report documents that all functions and specifications have been fulfilled.

Versatile in Application

User-friendly programming via keyboard and LCD dialogue enable the L-7100 to be used as

n Isocratic HPLC pump

n Quaternary low-pressure gradient pump in conjunction with a gradient accessory

n High-pressure gradient pump in conjunction with one or two further L-7100 pumps and as

n Column packing device at constant pressure.

The L-7100 pump can store

n 9 time programmes, in which mobile phase composition, flow rate and four events can be programmed and varied over a period of time.

n Via a Link function, programmes for multi-method applications can be linked.

A shut-down routine can be programmed to be carried out at the end of an analysis series by

n Delayed pump stop and a

n System flush programme.

Due to minimised internal volume, a highly constant flow-rate and excellent gradient reproducibility at low flow-rates, the L-7100 pump is

n Optimally suited for narrow-bore

applications.

For applications involving sensitive materials requiring operation at low temperatures

n The cold room compatibility of the L-7100 is advantageous.

Premature wear caused by saltcontaining eluents is prevented by the fitting of a

n Piston cleaning facility, whereby the piston wash procedure can be carried out automatically in combination with the LaChrom autosamplers.

GLP Functions

In view of the requirements of quality assurance systems, all modules of the LaChrom system have been fitted with comprehensive facilities for status display, reliability monitoring and the provision of corresponding documentation and traceability.

n All parameters, programmes and gradient curves of the L-7100 pump can be printed out by the La Chrom data systems.

n The pressure signal of the

L-7100 pump is constantly monitored as part of the reliability check. Any deviations from the normal pressure profile, caused for example by air bubbles or malfunction of pump valves, are registered during the course of the analysis.

n The Pump pressure profile can be printed out in the analysis report and hence serve in the assessment of the quality of the analytical results.

Maintenance is facilitated by the

n Maintenance logbook which automatically registers the total volume delivered. This provides an indication as to when the next replacement of the pump seal or the next cleaning of the pump valves

should take place.

Controller Function

In stand-alone operation, the system control function of the

L-7100 enables external instruments to be controlled by providing

n Four event and other control signals.

L-7400 Programmable UV-Detektor

The detectors is equipped with a high-quality reference beam system which compensates for fluctuations in the light beam instability and ageing of the lamp. Newly developed deuterium lamps guarantee longer life and increase the already proven operational reliability of the detectors. The measuring cells are so designed that any refractive index effects brought about by alteration of chromatographic parameters are minimised. This results in the highest degree of detection sensitivity throughout the entire measuring range of the detectors.

Wavelength Programming and Spectral Recording

Detection at the absorption maximum of an analyte improves not only the detection sensitivity but also the linearity and reproducibility of an analysis. The wavelength-programmable detectors are capable of adjusting automatically to the optimal wavelength prior to each peak. This occurs so quickly that each component of a sample is detected at its maximum sensitivity. During wavelength switching, the autozero function can be activated; this prevents baseline steps occurring and increases reliability when integrating peaks. In order to enable a particular sample component to be specifically identified, a complete spectrum can be stored and printed out on a recorder or integrator when the chromatogram has been completed.

High Operational Reliability and Ease of Use

For GLP work, information on lamp energy, lamp light-on time and an automatic test of wavelength accuracy can be recalled. The easy-toread display and simple operation enables the detectors to be optimally set. Numerous programming possibilities are available for wavelength, baseline parameters and spectral files. A total of nine time programmes can be entered using a dialogue process. Once entered, programmes remain intact even after the instrument has been switched off.

Digital Communication and System Advantages

The new LaChrom detectors have been fitted with an analogue and a digital data output. They can be used either as stand-alone instruments or be incorporated into the LaChrom system. When combined with other LaChrom modules, digital data communication ensures maximum data security and interference-free data processing.

The new high-performance data communication network D-Line also facilitates the intelligent and interference-free transfer of digital information between the LaChrom modules as well as the control and display of all parameters, files and spectra via an integrator or PC. Functions such as the "event logbook", the "reliability report" and the automatically compiled service report facilitate GLP work and simplify both maintenance and checking of the instruments.
