Description:
The HP 5972 Mass Selective Detector is a standalone, capillary GC detector designed for use with an HP 5890 gas chromatograph. Features of the HP 5972 MSD:. - Manufactured aluminum vacuum manifold. - Vapor diffusion high vacuum pump. - Mechanical backing pump. - Electron impact ionization source. - Hyperbolic quadrupole mass filter. - Electron multiplier. - Control electronics for the instrument. - Power supplies. - GC/MSD interface. The appropriate data system includes programs for calibrating (tuning) the MSD, data acquisition and processing. Real-time control of the MSD is carried out by the MSD electronics according to the specified values and instructions of the data system. The data system sends operating parameters to the MSD and receives status information and data from the MSD. Tuning programs adjust voltages in the ion source, calibrate mass assignments, and control analyzer scanning. Data acquisition programs allow you to monitor the total ion current and automatically save the mass spectra of GC peaks as they elute (scan mode), or monitor the concentrations of specific ions (selected ion monitoring mode (SIM)). Data analysis programs allow you to integrate chromatograms, create ion chromatograms, view and edit mass spectra, compare spectra to databases of reference spectra, and create reports. The HP 5890 Series II GC offers flexibility in selecting inputs, columns and detectors through the use of inserts and adapters, allowing any standard column to be used without compromising performance. Additional flexibility is gained through the positioning of inputs and detectors relative to each other and the large internal volume of the oven. There are five input options and six detectors, as well as a wide range of flow and pressure control components. In gas chromatography (GC), a moving gas (the mobile phase) carries the sample over a stationary phase (the solid support located within a GC column). It is estimated that 10-20% of known compounds can be analyzed by GC. To be suitable for GC analysis, a compound must have sufficient volatility and thermal stability. GC is usually used when the sample can be vaporized below 400-450°C. HP 5890 Series II GC Specifications:. - Heated devices. - Five heated zones as standard: two detectors, two inputs, one auxiliary device. - Saved Methods: Two. - Split/splitless capillary. - Range up to 400°C in 1°C increments. - Back pressure design allows independent split flow rate adjustment without affecting column flow. - Built-in septum purge at 3 ml/min. - Accepts columns up to 1.2mm outside diameter. - Multimodal design includes split and splitless injection. - Splitless flushing time variable in 0.01 min increments. - Column oven. - Operating range: 4°C above room temperature to 450°C. - Setpoint input: 1°C for temperatures, 0.1°C for program rates. - Programming: Rates from 0.1 to 70°C per minute, maximum run time 650 minutes, three ramps with initial/final hold time. HP 7673B Automatic Liquid Sampler Specification:. - Injection drive features:. * Electronic motor actuation with position feedback and control. * No air drives or periodic mechanical adjustments required. - Sample management:. * Sample capacity (2ml vials): 100 samples with tray. Tray samples are stored in removable and stackable quadrants. * Sample sequence: Random access with ALS control software for HP 5890 II GC. * Priority sample mode: A priority sample and method can be inserted into the sequence at any time. * Thermal sample control: Sample tray is positioned away from the GC to minimize heat exposure. Tray quadrants can be cooled or heated using a customer-supplied water circuit. Temperature range 5-60°C. - Sample injection:. * Syringe sizes: 0.5, 1, 5, 10, 25, 50 and 100 µl. * Injection volume selection: 2%, 10%, 20%, 30%, 40% or 50% of the syringe volume. *Applicable syringe rinsing solutions: Solvent A: 6 ml; Solvent B: 6ml. This HP 5972 MSD comes with HP 5890 II GC, HP ALS Controller, HP 7673B Autosampler, appropriate software and a priming pump. The HP 5972 MSD communicates with the HP 5890 II GC and the HP ALS controller via HPIB cables. The HP 5972 MSD has an EI source. This refurbished HP 5972 MSD with HP 5890 II GC, HP 7673B autosampler, data system and backing pump is in great condition. Several are available Labprocure is responsible for this device.
